Manuscript Preparation and Submission

Allelopathy Journal - Official Publication of Allelopathy Books

Manuscript Preparation and Submission

Instructions to Authors

Prepare manuscripts according to these guidelines and the model manuscripts. Use Times New Roman 12-point font for the text. Submit as a single file in MS Word 2019, including text, tables, and figures. Place tables and figures after the references, indicating preferred positions in the text.

Accepted manuscripts are published within 60–90 days of submission. All manuscripts undergo four stages of review by international experts, including peer review.

Model Manuscript

New authors often submit manuscripts in their own style, which hinders processing, delays publication, and wastes time for reviewers and editors. To ensure uniformity and familiarity with the journals format, use the model manuscript outlines for research papers and review papers available on the website.

Follow these outlines strictly, use 12-point font in MS Word, limit figure size to 17.5 x 12.5 cm, and submit as a single file (text, tables, figures) to chiefeditor@allelopathyjournal.com.

The model manuscripts demonstrate the required format and style; there is no page limit.

International Reviewers

To facilitate manuscript evaluation, provide the names, email addresses, and postal addresses of five international reviewers from outside your country. These reviewers must not be Associate Editors of the Allelopathy Journal.

Manuscript Requirements

4.1. Minimum Requirements

Since 2013, manuscripts must meet minimum standards for publication: (i) Include results from lab bioassays and pot culture/field experiments; (ii) Identify allelochemicals in donor plant material, extracts, leachates, or soil; and (iii) Demonstrate the bioactivity of these compounds. Manuscripts lacking these elements will be rejected to maintain international standards.

4.2. Bioassays

Simple lab bioassays with plant extracts or leachates are no longer accepted, as numerous such studies have already been published. Enhance your research by incorporating additional studies.

4.3. Additional Studies

  • Pot Culture: Examine effects of donor plant material or soil on recipient organisms to support lab bioassay results.
  • Identification of Allelochemicals: Identify and quantify allelochemicals in donor plants or soil using techniques like HPLC or GC-MS. Collaborate with facilities if needed.
  • Bioactivity of Allelochemicals: Test the bioactivity of identified compounds on recipient organisms (e.g., weeds, insects, nematodes, pathogens). For potent allelochemicals, evaluate effects at various doses to aid development of eco-friendly pesticides or growth regulators.

4.4. Allelopathy Publications

To advance your research, acquire allelopathy publications from the International Allelopathy Foundation catalogue. These books, including those on research methods in plant sciences, provide step-by-step guidance for independent research and have helped hundreds of students and researchers.

Title Page Requirements

Update the title page with:

  • A revised title as suggested.
  • Abbreviated author names.
  • Correspondence author’s phone (office and home), fax (with ISD/STD codes), mobile, and WhatsApp numbers. These are mandatory for emergency contact.
  • Two email addresses in Gmail or Hotmail for reliable communication.
  • Economic importance of donor and recipient plants.
  • Photographs of donor species in the Introduction.
  • Clear study objectives, including observed interactions or intended applications (e.g., growth regulator or herbicide).
  • Study site details: longitude, latitude, elevation, annual rainfall, maximum/minimum temperatures.
  • Study period: months and years.
  • Detailed Materials and Methods section.
  • Statistical analysis of experimental data.
  • Tables and figures shifted after references.
  • New colored figures in MS Excel (editable, fitting 17 x 12 cm, 9-point Times Roman text for axes and legends). Cite in text.
  • References rearranged alphabetically, numbered, with full journal names in italics, bold volume numbers, full pages, and more recent references up to the current year. Translate non-English references to English and note original language in parentheses.

Submit the updated manuscript by [specified date].

English Improvement and Manuscript Re-writing Services

Many manuscripts from non-English speaking countries require language enhancements. Since 2013, we offer paid services for English improvement and manuscript re-writing by experienced professionals. Fees are nominal compared to similar services. Full prepayment is required before sending the manuscript to the agency.

Manuscript Processing

The journal's large editorial board of renowned allelopathy scientists ensures efficient processing and high quality. Manuscripts undergo 15 stages before publication, including five reviews:

Stage Description
1. Preliminary Screening The Chief Editor assesses suitability. Unsuitable manuscripts are rejected. Suitable ones with deficiencies are returned for updates.
2. English Improvement/Re-writing Manuscripts from non-English countries are enhanced if needed, then forwarded for review.
3. Editor-in-Chief Maintains academic standards, oversees processing, edits manuscripts, and invites reviews on key topics.
4. Chief Editor Performs final editing. Returns manuscripts with deficiencies for revision; approves for publication if satisfied.
5. Associate Editor Reviews suitability, sends to two international peer reviewers, manages revisions, and accepts if standards are met.

Well-written manuscripts with significant findings are published within 60–90 days. Poorly written ones take longer due to revisions. Inquire about status 2 months after submission if no response is received.

Manuscript Withdrawal Rules

The Allelopathy Journal upholds the highest ethical standards. Authors must demonstrate integrity in their work. Withdrawal requests after submission waste resources, time, and effort. To discourage unwarranted withdrawals, the following rules apply:
